How do you get out of Vacation-Mode?????

Well I've been back from vacation for nearly a week and cannot get back on track.  I was gone for last week's weigh in, so this week's weigh in was for two weeks.  Well, it was not pretty. Not only did I have a week in So Cal enjoying Disneyland, I came back to Easter candy, not tracking my eating and well just not in the mood for doing following any sort of program.  The only thing I HAVE done is continue to exercise nightly.

UGH! Help me, how do I regain my mojo?  I was so diligent about exercising daily, but that went by the wayside the week before vacation. I am back riding for at least 30 min per night.  I had hoped to do add'l exercise while on vacation to counter-act my food choices, but that didn't happen.  I am also not tracking my food.  I had been so dedicated to online journalling thru the WW.COM site, but haven't since returning.  WHY? I know it's how I stay accountable and within my points.

So now I am here to come take ownership of my actions and choices and move forward.  I gained 4.1 over the past two weeks.  I will and must work my tail off to get that off and more.
What do you do to get yourself back on track?

Good riddance to a stressful week

I've never had both kids sick at the same time. OMG is that stressful.  I can see how having a sick child really can take a toll on parents.  Thankfully it wasn't anything serious and both boys are healing.

Confessions from this past week:
I didn't track one meal.  I know that's like playing with fire....but I was kind of keeping track mentally.  I am pretty sure I was eating decent portion sizes, but also got take-out a few time.

I got take out twice....I ate pizza....a lot of pizza, and I had chinese take out.  I was skeered to look up the points for cashew chicken, but think the hot and sour soup was not too bad point wise

The pizza I got was the Papa Murphy's de-lite pizza.....olives and jalapenos.  While pizza is not the best choice, I have to recommend trying a super thin crust pizza.  It was like only 4 pts per slice....and sooo tasty.

I still fit in exercise.  While there were two days I did not, I'm not going to beat myself up about missing a couple of workouts here and there.

I went to bed much earlier than usual.  Yes, my nights were interrupted, but I was in bed before midnight much of the week.  Totally out of character for me.

So now challenges of the coming week, two words....SPRING BREAK.  We're taking the boys on a little road trip.  I always pack snacks and will make sure we have fruit and water on hand.  Gotta love jerky, too.  Should get lots of walking in, but will also try to squeeze in addtional workouts at the hotel.

Here's to a good week  !!!

Triscuits, we have a problem.

For the love of G, will someone please take the box out of my cupboard.  My beloved Triscuit Thin have now joined the ranks for bingy, can't-eat-just-one foods.  UGH!!!  I was so proud of of how I would count out a serving size and weigh my ounce of cheese.  Lately, I start that way, and then the paw just goes into the box.  My breaking point was tonight.....I was munching on Tricuit Thins while setting up  Wii Fit.  WTH is that all about?   Who eats while they are getting ready to workout????

So, as you can see, I've had a weird day.  My eating was not the greatest....not sure where it went in the ditch, but it was way too carb heavy, which lead to more carbs, and more carbs, etc.  My allergies are really annoying me and have effected my sleep.  I really don't feel like exercising today and have yet to do so.  I have told myself I won't, that I can take a break for today.  I've  only not exercised ONE time since Mid-January....and that was when I was busily prepping for A's birthday.  While it was a busy day today and I don't feel 100%, I'm not sure why I'm giving up on my streak.  It's not too late for me to do something. Will I feel better if I just get it over with?  Or should I just go to bed and deal with anohter busy day.

Thankfully tomorrow is a new day.  Gotta love the fresh start each a.m. brings.  Damn I hate that this is such a struggle.

My Go-To Foods

I  love food....I'm a foodie, big time.  It's been important to me to find some go-to foods while on this journey to live healthier.   So far, soups have been my major go-to food.    Veggies, Chicken, Beans, shrimp, fish, scallops, Barley, Quinoa....all sorts of ingredients cooked up to into a tasty broth.  Sometimes pureed with the immersion blender, some eaten as a hearty thick stew.  I know eating lots of soup has helped fill me up and get lots of veggies in my system.  I love soup.  Now, as the weather is heating up, I'm wondering....will I still love soup when it's 100+ outside?  I'm thinking "NO!"  I will have to find some other quick, one-dish meals that will help me on my journey.  Thankfully, with the warmer temps also comes summer fruits and veggies.  Perhaps salads will be a big deal in my daily eating plan....they seem a bit tedious to prepare and assemble.  You can't make up a big vat of green salad ahead of time and eat on it all week.  Maybe I'll have to crank the a/c and enjoy my zippy soups through out the blistering heat.

There have been some other foods that I've enjoyed so far.  They are tasty and low points:
Trisket thins and sliced cheese are a big snack for me.  I've also taken it along for a portable lunch.  YUMMM

sandwich thins or bagel thins  (orowheat or thomas brands):  a great low-point, high fiber sandwich holder

laughing cow cheese....yum, spread on the above thins for a quick sandwich or snack

Popchips :  3pts for a serving size.....but it's a lot of chips.  I've been content with 1/2 that amount.  Costco has the ginormous bag for a great price

Rotel canned tomatoes :  They really help add some ZIP to my soups....yummo

beef jerky :  low fat, high protein,  and decent WW points plus wise  Great for road trips or when you're out running errands and STARVING!!!

What are your go-to foods?  What foods do you eat regularly and need to have on-hand in your pantry?
